Winemakers Tasting Notes - Winemaker Bart Lebbing
Bartholomews Meadery specialises in the old craft of making mead,
the oldest alcoholic drink.
~ Dry Honey Mead ~

Made from light Eucalyptus honey, this Dry Mead exhibits green apple and honey aromas. The palate is soft, honey shines through and the wine has a lovely clean finish. Enjoy by itself, with seafood or an Asian curry. Ideal for drinking now or cellar for several years. Dry Mead is also now available preservative free. (11.5 - 12.5 % alc/vol)
~ Medium Honey Mead ~

Honey gathered along the South Coast of WA was used to produce this excellent mead. Bartholomews Medium shows honey and apple aromas on the nose and has a lovely round palate with crisp clean finish. A very versatile drink, the medium can be enjoyed on it's own, with an Asian curry, pasta, seafood or with your favourite dessert. Drink now or cellar for several years. Medium Mead is also now available preservative free. (11.5 - 12.5 % alc/vol)
~ Sweet Honey Mead ~

This superb dessert style mead was produced by fermentation of Eucalyptus flower honey. It is a full bodied mead with rich honey aromas and flavours. Well balanced with lovely texture and clean finish. A great mead to accompany ice-cream and other desserts. Will cellar well for several years. (11.5 - 12.5 % alc/vol)
~ Metheglin ~

Originally for healing purposes, this mead is spiced with ginger, cinnamon, cloves and rosemary. A rich spicy aroma precedes the enjoyment of this superb mead. The honey flavour is beautifully married with the spices and undertones of oak complement this delightful wine. An ideal wine to have after a meal, with a cheese platter or enjoy on itıs own in the evening. Of course there is nothing better then a mulled Metheglin on a cold winters night in front of a log fire. Drink now or cellar for several years.(12.5 % alc/vol)
~ Bartholomews Honey Liqueur ~

... is an outstanding drop. Made with premium quality honey, sweetened with a selection of honeys from the South Coast of Western Australia and fortified with first class brandy spirit. This liqueur is a pure delight. It is smooth and round in flavour, has a great nose and a long palate. Drink now or cellar for years. (17.5 % alc/vol)
All Bartholomews Meads have excellent keeping qualities. After opening they will keep for 6 weeks in the refrigerator with little impact on quality. The shelf life of the Honey Liqueur is similar to a Port.
